Intranet Application for Research Institution
For a reputable institution that is engaged in cancer research, Ecomsulting has developed Promas a researchmanagement system.
The system originates from statutory requirements regarding cancerresearh.
On the basis of broadly defined schemes, the system keeps track of the progress of the plans, monitoring the plan(goals) according to the relevant schemes in conformity with the appropriate standards with accompanying reporting.
Staff members of Ecomsulting have built the entirely web-based system
on Oracle. Employed were JSP and Servlet techniques, in combination
with PL/SQL. Further, to enhance mobility, use was made of
barcode scanners and barcode printers.
Extranet for the Non-Commercial Broadcasting
Corporations
For the national broadcasting collectivity, Ecomsulting
specialists have completed a wide-ranging and complex project at
the NOS premises. The gist is as follows: The radio and TV programming
of all non-commercial stations is stored in a central Oracle database.
Subsequently the data is subjected to various analyses. The outcomes
of the analyses are presented on the Extranet.
The project required a very thorough knowledge of PL/SQL and HTML.
Incentivizer Implemented at Financial Institution
In the interest of furthering the utilization of the
available knowledge management system, Incentivizer - an independently
developed product of Ecomsulting's - was implemented at a large
Dutch financial institution. Use was made of Oracle Designer for
the data model. For the arrangement of the infrastructure, Apache,
Cocoon, Tomcat and IAS were chosen, and for the construction of
Java objects and servlets Java, XML and XSL were employed.
Database Management for Health Insurer
For a major health insurer, Ecomsulting performed
the day-to-day DBA activities, such as installing and laying out
a data warehouse system, and subsequently tuning it for parallel
querying.; setting up a web environment, grafted on the Apache web
server; integrating the tivoly storage manager with the Oracle databases,
with the aid of the Oracle Recovery Manager; implementing hardware
for the daily database management.
Hours Registration via Mobile Devices
MyHours is an in-house developed Ecomsulting product.
With MyHours, staff can quite easily hand in their working hours
(and any comments) via their GSM of PDA. Through the associated
web application, staff, project managers and general management
have at their immediate disposal an up-to-date survey of the status
of projects, training courses, vacations etc. Records of time worked
can be made available at once for customer's signature. MyHours
has been built using Java and XML; it is database-independent and
runs on any mobile equipment that supports Java.
Campaign Scanner
Ecomsulting received the challenging request to develop
a fully automatic campaign scanner. The customer wanted to look
at various sites of companies running a campaign. Using Java, a
so-called web crawler was assembled. The campaigns found were indexed
and the pages, including the accompanying pictures, buttons etc.
were stored. In the initial phase Ecomsulting moreover provided
the DBA support.
Management of ICT-Development Environment at Ministry
For the management of an ICT-development environment
at one of the ministries, Ecomsulting's assistance was enlisted.
The DBA activities included the implementation of development, test
and production databases and the design software (e.g., Oracle IAS9i,
Oracle Portal, OC4J and BC4J). In addition, extra attention was
given to backup strategies and performance tuning.
Pupils Registration for Teaching Establishment
At the request of a regional institution for contract
training, Ecomsulting, using Oracle Designer, PL/SQL, Dreamweaver,
Jbuilder and Javascript, has built a enrolment system for students.
Via the Internet, the system displays the available teaching programs
and the number of available places. Student applications are processed
via the Internet. Administrative staff of the institution deal with
the enrolments through an Oracle Forms application.
Helpdesk Application for Bank
Wishing to improve the support for the strongly
growing number of its Internet clients, a banking institution asked
Ecomsulting to build an Extranet for its helpdesk personnel. Analysis,
design and realisation of the application were achieved with the
aid of Oracle Designer, Oracle Forms, PL/SQL and Javascript.
